A new version of the open source Minimo ("Mini Mozilla") browser for Windows CE and Windows Mobile devices is now available for download, according to mozillaZine.

Minimo 0.007 reportedly adds tabbed browsing and support for plug-ins, along with improved performance and reduced footprint.

The mozillaZine.org article cites a CNET news item that reports that the user interface in the latest version of Minimo is implemented using Mozilla's XUL, rather than the Windows CE UI.

Screenshots of Minimo running on an i-mate JAM are available here, writes Doug Turner, one of the Minimo project leaders, in his blog. Turner is working on the port to Windows CE, and has issued a general call to Windows CE developers to help out in this effort. Minimo is based on the 1.7a Mozilla codebase and the current Windows CE build uses the Pocket PC 2003 SDK.

Further information about Minimo is available on the Minimo project web page It can be downloaded here. A Minimo discussion forum is located here.
