Opera Software claims "growing momentum" for its Opera Mobile Web browser for Windows Mobile, noting that major manufacturers, such as HTC and Toshiba, are pre-installing Opera on their smartphones and PDAs. Additionally, end user downloads have increased 50 percent over the past year, the company reports.

Opera says its Mobile Browser has recently been selected for the following Windows Mobile handsets: Opera's VP for Mobile Roger Carlhammar stated, "Handset manufacturers choose Opera for their Windows Mobile-based devices for its speed, stability, and standards compliance. Mobile users prefer the Opera browser because it gives them all their favorite Web pages in a user-friendly manner."

Opera has recently released a preview a new version of its Windows Mobile browser, v8.65 beta, which is touted as providing a "faster and more user-friendly Web experience" for all smartphone and Pocket PC users. New features in v8.65 are said to include: search directly in the address bar; "grab and scroll" (on Pocket PCs, only); copy text; a save function for images; and the ability to import IE bookmarks.
