(Click here for larger image of OV-1000 OTDR kit)Corning says the OV-100 accommodates two modules drawn from a "wide variety" of multimode, single-mode, and advanced testing modules. The unit includes 80 MB of flash memory that can typically store up to 1500 traces, with additional storage available via USB ports and a CompactFlash slot.
The splash-proof device sports a sunlight-readable, 6.4-inch, VGA touchscreen. The display is large enough to enable viewing both trace and event data simultaneously, according to Corning. Available options include a power meter and visual fault locator (VFL).
Corning lists the following specifications for the OV-1000:
- Interfaces:
- USB A main, USB B remote
- RJ-45 LAN 10/100 Mb/s
- fiber inspection probe connector port (video)
- Storage -- internal 80 MB flash
- Storage options -- 1 and 2 GB USB sticks, CompactFlash cards
- Power meter:
- Calibrated wavelengths -- 850, 1300, 1310, 1490, 1550, 1625, and 1650 nm
- Detector -- InGaAs
- Power range -- 10 to -86 dBm
- Uncertainty == +/- 5 percent +/- 3 pW (InGaAs)
- Visual fault locator -- continuous wave laser, 650 nm +/- 10 nm
- Dimensions -- 12.7 x 7.75 x 4.3 inches (32.2 x 19.7 x 10.9 cm)
Interestingly, the OV-1000 appears to be identical, other than case color, to the FTB-200
introduced in January by Exfo Electro-Optical Engineering.
