Commodore International has introduced a handheld device that combines the functions of a GPS navigator and a portable media player (PMP). The ComboNavigator runs Windows CE and includes a GPS receiver, 20GB hard drive, MP3 player, image and movie viewers, FM radio, and games, according to the company.

The 3.6-inch touchscreen display operates in either day or night mode, and displays both 2D and 3D map images.

GPS readouts show current location, distance to destination, speed, estimated time of arrival, and what to do next to get there, according to Commodore. Instructions are given vocally in a choice of 18 different languages. "Car" and "cycling" modes help users find the most efficient route for different transportation modes.

As a portable media player, the ComboNavigator decodes a wide range of audio and video files, and is DRM9 compatible, according to the company.

Other included software apps provide text management, file management, and voice recording functions.

Key features and specifications of the ComboNavigator are listed as:
        • Display -- 3.6 inch LTPS TFT touchscreen
        • Memory -- 64 MB SDRAM, 128 MB Flash
        • GPS -- SiRF chipset, built-in Skytec NR86-series antenna
        • Built-in FM radio receiver
        • Audio:

          • built-in microphone
          • headset jack
