        PC/104 SBC with Windows CE .NET hits magical $104 price point

        Updated Oct. 21, 2003 -- Acrosser announced a joint promotion with A7 Engineering that features Acrosser's AR-B1423C PC/104 single-board computer (SBC) bundled with A7 Engineering's Windows CE .NET board support package (BSP) -- all for the uniquely low price of $104, starting Dec.


        1, 2003.

        According to Acrosser, the AR-B1423C is a low-power PC/104 CPU module that features a fanless STPC Consumer II 133MHz processor, an SODIMM socket for up to 128MB RAM, and socket for up to 288MB user-added DiskOnChip Flash memory. Other onboard functions include a 10/100 Ethernet port, two RS232 serial ports (one with RS-485 capability), an SPP/EPP/ECP parallel port, and interfaces for floppy and IDE drives.

        Regarding the software, A7 Engineering said its Windows CE BSP includes initialization code and device drivers for all on-board peripherals, including 10/100 Base T Ethernet, display, serial and parallel ports, and IDE and floppy disk drives. The BSP is said to be easy to install into the Platform Builder 4.2, CE .NET environment for immediate use in building Windows CE-based products.

        Additionally, Signet will be offering a complete, plug-and-play LCD solutions for the AR-B1423C, including passive matrix (TN, STN, FSTN, etc.), active matrix, and TFT displays as well as touch screens, inverters, and cables.

        The $104 promotion is in effect from Dec. 1, 2003 through Dec. 31, 2004, Acrosser said.
