Using the typical 3.8 x 3.6 inch PC/104 form factor, the AX12280 employs ITE's 8888G PCI-to-ISA bridge. Therefore, it can offer both 16-bit ISA and 32-bit PCI expansion, via onboard stackable PC/104 and PCI-104 connectors.


Axiomtek's AX12280 has a single SODIMM slot

The device uses Intel's 910GMLE northbridge and ICH6-M southbridge, and supports up to 1GB of 400/533MHz DDR2 memory. It is available with 600MHz or 1GHz Celeron processors with 512K second-level caches, or a 1GHz Celeron with no second-level cache. It runs fanlessly in any of these configurations, Axiomtek says.

Interfaces, all naturally available only via pin headers, include two SATA-150 ports, two PS/2 ports for keyboard and mouse, two RS232 serial ports, and a gigabit Ethernet port. The AX12280 supports both CRT and LVDS-interfaced LCD displays, with dual operation and maximum resolutions of 2048 x 1536 and 1400 x 1050 pixels, respectively.

The SBC also has four USB ports, including one that supports an optional DOM (disk on module). An AC'97 audio codec is included, and the AX12280 additionally has a watchdog timer, a SMBus interface for monitoring and control, and digital I/O (three channels in, five out).

Axiomtek did not cite operating system support for the AX12280, but previous SBCs from the company have supported Windows XP Embedded, Windows CE, and Linux.
