        PC/104-expandable "universal network controller" runs Windows Embedded

        Advantech has introduced the newest member of its "universal network controller" family. According to Advantech, new features provided by the UNO-2160 include a 400MHz Celeron processor, increased memory and memory backup, and support for two PC/104 expansion slots.

        Advantech says the UNO-2160 is ideal for use as a controller, communication gateway, or thin client, and supports two embedded operating systems -- Windows CE .NET 4.2, and Windows XP Embedded. Preconfigured OS images are available, including optimized device drivers for onboard functions.

        Key features of the UNO-2160, according to Advantech, include:
        • On-board Celeron 400MHz, 256/512 MB SDRAM
        • Provides 512K bytes of battery-backup RAM
        • Supports Lm sensor which can retrieve CPU and board temperature for monitoring purposes
        • Two RS-232, two RS-232/422/485 with automatic flow control
        • Dual 10/100 Base-T RJ-45 ports
        • Dual optional PC/104 Extension
        • Two USB ports and one Type I/II PC card
        • Supports Modbus/RTU and Modbus/TCP devices.
        • Supports ADAM series for remote data acquisition and control
