        PXA255 reference platform supports Windows CE 5.0

        Vibren Technologies has announced that its reference design based on Intel's PXA255 Applications Processor now supports Microsoft Windows CE 5.0. The Accelent DevkitIDP can be used to develop software for a wide range of embedded devices, including PDAs and other handhelds, wireless web-pads, set-top boxes, multimedia devices,...


        kiosks, and POS (point of sale/service) systems, according to Vibren.

        The DevkitIDP was originally developed by Accelent Systems, which was subsequently acquired by Vibren earlier this year.

        Key features of the DevkitIDP include:
        • Integrated LCD display, touch panel and keyboard
        • Ethernet Connectivity
        • JTAG connector
        • 2 PCMCIA/Compact Flash slots with adapter
        • USB Host and Function
        • Multiple ports for use in application development
        • System bootloader that supports Flash ROM updates from PCMCIA, Compact Flash, and Ethernet
        • Easily upgradeable system bootloader and OS image
        • System bootloader that supports display output and menu-driven boot options
        • Production quality OS image
        • Binary modules include:
          • USB Host and Function
          • IrDA
          • Ethernet
          • AC'97 Audio
          • LCD Display
          • Touch Panel
          • PCMCIA/Compact Flash
          • Matrix Keyboard
          • UART
