Sealevel Systems has introduced a touch-screen panel PC that runs Windows XP Embedded (XPe) on an AMD Geode LX800 processor. The SeaPac-LX is designed for industrial computing and features a highly modular and expandable design, according to the company.

The SeaPAC-LX comprises a stack of components, as shown in the photo below. At the front of the stack is an LCD subassembly, available with screen sizes ranging from 6.4 to 17 inches diagonally. The panel-mount bezel is said to provide Nema 4/IP65 protection from sprayed liquids on the front surface, and a VESA bracket allows attachment to a mounting arm. The LCD can optionally be upgraded to a resistive touchscreen.

In addition to a variety of PC-style peripheral ports, the SeaPAC-LX can be expanded using the company's SeaI/O data acquisition modules, which are controlled via Modbus RTU (remote terminal unit) connections and interface protocols. This setup enables one or more SeaI/O modules to be physically attached to the SeaPAC-LX, or located remotely up to 4000 feet away. Available Modbus options usable in this manner include Reed and Form C relays, optically isolated inputs, TTL, A/D, D/A, and serial ports. The SeaPAC-LX shares its 12VDC power supply with each expansion module via pass-through connectors.

Other features and specifications, as listed by the company, include:
        • Processor -- AMD Geode LX800, clocked at 800MHz
        • Memory -- 200-pin SODIMM, for up to 512MB RAM
        • Storage:
