Comfile announced a panel PC that's available with a preinstalled Windows XP Embedded image. The CUPC-P80 includes a 10.2-inch display with 800 x 480 resolution, a 500MHz AMD Geode LX800 processor, 4GB of flash storage, an SD slot, and four serial ports, Comfile says.

Comfile says its CUPC-P80 has a 10.2-inch display that features LED backlighting and 800 x 480 resolution. The company is vague on what touchscreen technology the display features, however, its website citing both resistive and capacitive technologies.

The compact device uses AMD's 500MHz Geode LX800 processor, along with the chipmaker's CS5536 companion chip. Also featured are 512MB of RAM, apparently non-expandable, and 4 GB of built-in flash storage. The latter is supplemented by an SD expansion slot, according to the company.

As the above photo of the CUPC-P80's rear illustrates, the panel PC is equipped with a RJ45 connector for 10/100 Ethernet, a VGA output, PS/2 ports for a keyboard and mouse, three USB ports, a microphone input, and a headphone output. The device also includes a grand total of five serial ports -- three RS232, one RS232/485, and one that can be switched between RS232 and RS485, says Comfile.

On the side of the CUPC-P80 is the SD slot already mentioned, plus an input for 12 VDC power. According to Comfile, the panel PC uses less than 15 Watts, and operates in temperatures from 0 to 60 deg. C (32 to 140 deg. F).
