Kontron says the V Panel Express series features an "innovative" cooling design that enables fanless operation at maximum processor performance. Additionally, because the units are based on a COM (computer-on-module) design, they can accommodate a wide range of scalable processor performance.

Kontron lists the following key features and specifications for the V Panel Express series:
        • Processor -- "up to" Core Duo T2500 technology
        • Memory -- max. RAM 2 GB
        • Display:
          • 3 panel sizes -- 12.1, 15, and 17 inches
          • resistive analog touch screen
          • max. resolution not specified
        • Storage options:
          • 2 CompactFlash slots
          • 2 SATA hard drives
        • I/O ports:
          • dual Ethernet -- 1 gigabit, 1 10/100
          • 5 USB 2.0 -- 1 front, 4 rear
          • 2 RS232
        • Expansion -- 2 PCI slots
        • Power -- +24 VDC
        • Front panel sealed to IP65 (NEMA 250 type 12 and 13)
In addition to Windows XP and Windows XP Embedded, the V Panel Express series also supports "Linux and Embedded Linux," according to Kontron.

Price and availability were not disclosed. Comparatively little documentation is available on the V Panel Express series at the company's website.
