Belview Technologies has released an "all-in-one" touchscreen computer based on a 1.5 GHz Celeron processor and running Windows XP Embedded (XPe). The PP8500 is aimed at point-of-sale (POS), point-of-information (POI) and stand-alone kiosk applications, according to the company.

The new device uses the same housing and 15-inch TFT LCD touchscreen as the PP6500 Belview announced in July. However, instead of that device's VIA CA400 chipset, the PP8500 is said to employ Intel's 82852GM, with integrated Extreme Graphics 2 video.

Additionally, instead of supporting Socket 370 CPUs as did the PP6500, the device now supports Socket 479 CPUs, according to Belview. Specifically, the PP8500 is offered with a choice of 1.5 or 1.0 GHz Celeron M processors, and can run fanless when fitted with the lower clock speed alternative.

The unit comes with a standard 2.5-inch, 40 GB hard drive. This can be replaced or supplemented with a disk-on-module (DOM) up to 4 GB in size, or CompactFlash in 4, 8, or 16 GB capacities. The latter is suitable for installing Windows Embedded for Point of Service (WEPOS), the company says.

Features and specifications cited by Belview include:
