(Click here for a larger view of I-Tech's KPC1200)The only difference between the models in the KPC range is display size. As its name implies, the KPC1200 has a 12-inch resistive touchscreen with 800 x 600 resolution. The KPC1500 has a 15-inch screen with 1024 x 768 resolution. The KPC1700 and KPC1900 offer 1280 x 1024 resolution on 17- and 19-inch displays, respectively.
Resulting dimensions aside, the four devices are otherwise identical. They have metal cabinets (2.2 or 2.4 inches thick) whose sealed front cabinets meet the IP65 standard for water and dust resistance. I/O ports are found at the bottom, with a recess that protects any installed connectors.
A door at the back of the cabinets provides access to a bay where a 2.5-inch hard drive can be placed, making the devices compatible with a full Windows 2000, Windows XP Professional, or Linux installation, if desired. For XPe or WEPOS use, however, the KPCs' CompactFlash slots can be used for solid-state storage.
All four computers use either a Celeron M processor, clocked at 1.3GHz or 1.5GHz, or a Pentium M clocked at 1.8GHz. They employ Intel's 852GM chipset, including integrated graphics, and ICH4 southbridge. Two SO-DIMM slots accept up to 2GB of DDR memory, according to I-Tech.
The devices offer a healthy complement of ports. These include a 10/100 Ethernet port, a VGA port for a second display, three serial ports (one switch-selectable between RS232/422/485 modes), a parallel port, and six USB ports (four externally accessible, two internal). For audio, a microphone input and line output are also provided, supplementing the internal stereo speakers.
Finally, an RJ11 connector provides a 12VDC or 24VDC cash drawer interface. If 802.11a/b/g wireless networking is necessary, this can be added via an internal Mini PCI slot, I-Tech notes.
Features and specifications listed by I-Tech for the KPC series include:
