(Click here for a slightly larger view of the MWG Atom Life)The Atom Life uses a Marvell PXA270 processor clocked at 624MHz. This is supported by 64MB of RAM and, as mentioned, the device comes with an unusually generous 1GB of flash. Storage can be further expanded using a miniSD slot, MWG says.
Another uncommon feature for a handset is the inclusion of stereo speakers. SRS WOW circuitry is used to process the sound, attempting to provide what MWG describes as a "surround sound experience."
Telephony capabilities encompass tri-band GSM (900/1800/1900MHz), UMTS (1900/2100MHz), EDGE, and HSDPDA. The 3G HSDPA data transfer standard, when available, boosts download speeds to 3.6Mbps, according to MWG. The Atom Life also includes 802.11b/g wireless networking, Bluetooth 1.2, and -- now less commonly seen -- an IrDA port for infrared data transfer.
The phone has a 2.7-inch touchscreen display with 320 x 240 resolution. It further offers a two megapixel camera with macro focusing, LED flash, and a preview mirror for taking self-portraits. A secondary VGA-resolution camera is included too, for videoconferencing purposes.
Included with the Atom Life is the usual Windows Mobile 5.0 bevy of applications, such as Internet Explorer, Office, Media Player 10, and Outlook. To this, MWG has added a theming application for changing the phone's user interface, plus
Jeyo Mobile Extender, which allows text messaging from within Outlook, and
CodeWallet Pro, an organizer that secures personal information using both password protection and encryption.
