(Click here for larger image of Today screen)Resco says the most significant improvement in this new release is the new Today plug-in that displays remaining battery life and disk space in a transparent and
easy-to-understand way. It also allows quick access to favorite applications and documents, according to the company.
Resco contends that the standard Pocket PC file manager doesn't do a very good job of managing the growing capacity of external media. That capabilities gap was its original motivation behind Explorer 2005, it says.
In addition to the file manager and Today plug-in, Explorer 2005 is said to include the following modules:
- Strong File Encryption
- Zip Compression
- Built-in Viewer for JPEG, GIF, BMP, and PNG graphic formats as well as TXT, BIN, and HEX format
- Network Browser maps shared network folders to local folders
- Registry Editor for "power users"
- FTP Explorer for directly browsing FTP servers.
Resco Explorer 2005 is available in English, French, German, Italian, and Spanish from Resco's
download page.
