        Pocket PC "network browser" gains new features

        V-Mobile Software has released version 1.2 of its network browsing and diagnostic tool for Windows Mobile Pocket PCs. Network Browser is described as a full-featured network browsing and diagnostic tool with a user friendly interface similar to that of a desktop PC file browser.

        According to its maker, the Network Browser enables access to remote networks and files, such as accessing a corporate network or playing MP3 files stored on a desktop PC's hard drive. Additionally, a built-in "Wi-Fi network scanner" function allow users to search for public wireless networks and monitoring wireless connection quality.

        Enhancements in the version 1.2 release, according to the company, include:
        • Added wake up on LAN functionality
        • Added "Open With" function
        • Added Network Login function
        • Added file association management
        • Improved network browsing functionality

        • Fixed minor bugs with GUI
