Taiwanese ODM (original design manufacturer) E-Ten has introduced a new Pocket PC phone running the Pocket PC Phone Edition of Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition. The M500 features quad-band GSM/GPRS, Bluetooth, and a 1.3 megapixel camera, along with various advanced multimedia and entertainment applications and features.

The M500 is based on a 400MHz Samsung S3C 2440 processor with 64MB of SDRAM and 128MB of built-in flash memory. Its 2.8-inch TFT LCD screen supports QVGA (240x320) resolution in 65K colors, and its wireless capabilities include built-in Bluetooth and quad-band GSM/GPRS. The built-in 1.3 megapixel camera includes a built-in flash and provides 4X digital zoom, with image resolutions up to 1280x960. An SDIO slot provides expandability.

The M500's built-in freehand imaging software allows users to create and edit images for email and messaging quickly and easily, according to E-Ten. The multimedia manager can be configured to share images via email or infrared, and pictures can also be read from and written to plug-in memory cards. In addition, all of the M500's add-on applications are designed for one-thumb operation, and most also support a "wizard mode" that leads users through easy-to-understand menus, E-Ten says.

The M500 will be available worldwide through resellers and distributors in early Q1/2005, according to E-Ten. Pricing has not been announced at this time.
