(Click here for larger image)The MW-140BT uses a stationary print head that delivers high-quality, whisper-quiet printing with no warm-up time, according to Brother. The unit prints on A7 size (4.1 x 2.9 inch) paper at 300 dpi at a rate of four pages per minute.
Brother says the printer uses thermal paper, specifically tailored for mobile applications, that feels like plain paper, is easy to write on, allows the use of highlighters and minimizes print fading. A unique carbon copy paper form simultaneously prints an original and a copy and supports signature capture for authorization or proof of receipt.
The MW-140BT, with both Bluetooth and IrDA interfaces, is part of the MPrint family that also includes the MW-100 and MW120, both with USB and IrDA interfaces. All three are supported by a "full suite" of printing SDKs for developing custom mobile printing applications. The devices currently support Windows Mobile 2003 for Pocket PC and .NET Compact Framework as well as Windows 98/2000/XP, and BlackBerry. The SDKs are available for download
here.
The MW-140BT is available from a number of online retailers with an estimated street price of $399.
