QuickLogic has announced Windows CE .NET support for its QuickMIPS family of programmable system-on-chip (SoC) processors. The SoCs, which combine "turnkey" MIPS-architecture CPU cores along with programmable logic on a single die, target applications requiring efficient and secure transmission of digital media across wired and wireless enterprise and automotive infotainment networks, QuickLogic says.

QuickLogic's Windows CE support takes the form of a board support package (BSP) optimized for the QuickMIPS Development Platform (QDP), a PCI card used for developing QuickMIPS applications. The QDP includes:
        • QuickMIPS QL902M SoC
        • 8MB of boot Flash memory and 16MB of application Flash memory
        • 128MB of SDRAM
        • Two 10/100 Ethernet ports
        • PCI connectors
        • Expansion connectors for programmable logic and
          memory address/data buses

The QuickMIPS-specific BSP software is available free of charge directly from QuickLogic. The BSP is expected to be formally certified by Microsoft by the end of Q3, 2004, the company says.
