Microsoft has released a resource kit that aims to assist developers in first evaluating -- and then developing devices using -- Windows XP Embedded SP2. The kit comprises six Word documents and one spreadsheet that can freely be downloaded from Microsoft's website.

Microsoft says the kit will "help guide the developer through the complete process of evaluating, choosing, designing, installing, developing, debugging, testing, shipping, and servicing an effective, reliable and secure Windows XP Embedded device."

The six available documents, ranging in size from 141 KB to 4.4 MB, can each be downloaded individually. According to Microsoft, they cover:
        • Overview and Evaluation
        • Development Guide
        • Embedded Enabling Features
        • Troubleshooting Guide
        • Servicing Guide
        • Installing DotNet Framework
        • XPe SP2 Component Manifest spreadsheet
Microsoft says the documents lean heavily on hyperlinks to preexisting on-line content, in order to reduce content redundancy. Further information on the Microsoft Windows XP Embedded SP2 Resource Kit, including links for downloading the documents, is available here.
