PSC has announced "significant enhancements" to its line of Windows CE based rugged handhelds and mobile computers. The Falcon 4400 Series color mobile computers are designed for warehouses, distribution centers, retail in-store environments, and other inventory management applications, according to the company.

        The new enhancements include:
        • A durable elastomeric overmold said to increase ruggedness
        • Integrated 2D imager option to scan 2D bar codes and capture images
        • Tethered stylus accessory
        • Drop spec rated at 5 feet (1.5 meters), multiple times on concrete
The latest Falcon 4400 series handhelds run Windows CE on a 400 MHz Intel PXA255 processor. The devices are available with 26-, 48-, or 52- key keypads. 802.11b wireless options include Cisco Aironet and Symbol Wireless Networker.

PSC's Falcon Management Utility (FMU) and Falcon Desktop Utility (FDU) software, included with each unit, provide remote management and configuration functions.
