        Rugged telematics platform runs Windows CE

        Prolificx has announced a rugged Windows CE based telematics platform targeting applications in fleet management, vehicle location, navigation, and asset tracking. The company says the TrakPod represents a versatile, economical, and configurable platform for van, truck, and automotive fleet operators.

        Based on an Intel PXA272 XScale processor operating at speeds of up to 620 MHz, the TrakPod is available as either a generic platform with the Windows CE operating system only, or bundled with additional "field proven" telematics application software and APIs.

        Key features and specifications of the Trakpod include:
        • Processor -- 620 MHz Intel Xscale PXA272
        • Memory -- 32-128MB SDRAM; 32MB or 64MB Flash
        • Display -- LVDS interface supports external displays at resolutions up to 1024 X 768
        • Expansion:
          • SD Card (internal)
          • Two CompactFlash slots; 1 internal, 1 external
        • Wireless options:
          • GSM/GPRS or CDMA
          • Bluetooth
        • Wired communication:
          • CAN and J1850 interfaces to vehicle communications system
          • USB Host and Slave
          • RS232 serial port
          • Dallas 1-wire and I2C interfaces for additional sensors such as driver ID, temperature, etc.
        • On-board 12 channel GPS
        • 3 axis accelerometer
        • Protected I/O Interfaces:
          • Four analog in
          • Two analog out
          • 12 digital I/O with frequency counters
          • Two high current switches
        • AC97 Audio In/Out
        • Battery backup in event of vehicle power loss
        • Software-controllable low power modes that leave communications active so TrakPod can be awakened by incoming calls
        • Supports 12 and 24V power systems
