        [Updated July 1, 2004] -- Microsoft kicked off its annual Windows Embedded Developers' Conference ("DevCon") this week in San Diego with major announcements about Windows CE 5.0 and its "shared source" license.


        This is the fourth annual Windows Embedded DevCon, bringing developers face-to-face with Microsoft's Windows Embedded development team, numerous Embedded MVPs (Most Valuable Professionals), and third-party software and hardware suppliers. The show runs through Monday through Thursday.

        WindowsForDevices.com editor-in-chief Rick Lehrbaum is on the scene in San Diego, and will be reporting the latest developments as they occur. He'll also be providing pictures like these emailed directly from his mobile phone camera.
