Security continues to be a hot topic in the wireless world. SonicWALL has introduced a new security solution for handheld devices running Microsoft's Pocket PC 2003 operating system that it says addresses the needs of vertical markets where the growing use of handheld 802.11 devices is matched by an increased need to secure the wireless network.

SonicWALL claims that its new Pocket Global VPN Client (Pocket GVC) software provides users with secure, encrypted wireless access to corporate networks or the Internet. Pocket GVC, a sister product of the company's Global VPN Client for PCs and laptops, supports WAN, PPP, and GPRS adapters and is fully compatible with the cmpany's full line of wired and wireless security appliances.

Pocket GVC is a standalone application for Microsoft Pocket PC 2003 that is said to feature a customized user interface with log viewer, pop-up notification of VPN tunnel status, support for NAT-03, and virtual adapter support for controlled access to internal network resources.

Licenses are available ranging from 1 to 1,000 user versions, with prices ranging from $50 for one user, up to $3995 for a 1,000 user license.
