Low-level, flash filesystem software provides critical functionality on contemporary wireless handheld devices, ensuring that data can be written to the storage media, accessed by the user, and read on demand.

Datalight has prepared an extensive whitepaper discussing the issues involved in selecting an appropriate flash filesystem.

The paper begins with a review of filesystem types and how they affect reliability. Issues affecting performance are discussed, as well as features that contribute to ease of integration. The paper concludes with some observations on what to look for in a vendor.
