Service connects wireless mobile displays via Internet

Viewsonic has teamed up with Citrix to offer Citrix's Internet-based remote desktop access service with Viewsonic's airsync V210 wireless displays. Normally, the Windows CE based V210 must remain within direct Wi-Fi connection range of the host PC whose desktop, files, and applications it accesses.

But, with the addition of GoToMyPC, users can securely access remote PCs from anywhere with Internet access, the companies say.

GoToMyPC was introduced last July as a tool for remote PC access from Pocket PC phones over Verizon's NationalAccess data network. Extending GoToMyPC to the V210 with its 10-inch display removes the small screen limitations of traditional handheld wireless devices, according to the companies.

Viewsonic is now bundling a 60-day free trial of Citrix's GoToMyPC remote desktop access service with every ViewSonic V210 wireless display. Following the 60-day free trial, the service may be continued for $19.95 per month. Further details about GoToMyPC are available here.

Weighing about three pounds, the V210 is a Windows CE device with a 10-inch screen, a 400MHz Intel XScale processor, and 802.11b technology for wireless connectivity, according to ViewSonic.
