i-mate is offering software and a subscription service that provides device control and data management functions for Windows Mobile 5.0 smartphones and Pocket PCs. i-mate Suite offers a complete package of PC-like functionality to minimize downtime, safeguard data, and securely transfer information, according to the company.

i-mate says its software suite allows users to browse files on home or office PCs from anywhere, extend corporate networks into the field, remotely erase data if a device is ever lost or stolen, and troubleshoot devices remotely. i-mate Suite consists of three modules:
        • 1-View -- lets users browse files on a home or office PC from anywhere. Icons indicate on which computer, server, or device the files physically reside. The subscription includes a private "data vault" on i-mate's server, for file storage accessible from any web-enabled device. 1-View was previously released as a separate module.

Backup -- provides remote wireless data backup to, and restore from, the data vault. Multiple devices can be backed up, limited only by the space available in the data vault. Files can be easily transferred from one mobile device to another.

Control -- remotely configures or troubleshoots devices, helping users configure WiFi and Bluetooth connections. Supports remote automatic application update and removal of old and unauthorized programs. Can remotely erase a lost or stolen device to protect sensitive data.
i-mate Suite runs on any Windows Mobile 5.0 Pocket PC or Smartphone device, according to the company. The subscription is available for $10 per month or $100 per year. A 30-day free trial is downloadable here.
