(Click for larger image)E-ten says the X810's 3.5G HSDPA (high speed downlink packet access) capability supports wireless data transfers at speeds comparable to those of fixed-wire broadband technologies such as ADSL. Additionally, this high-speed wireless connectivity enhances the use of "advanced mobile services" such as VoIP, streaming video, and video phone calls, the company points out.
The compact device measures 4.5 x 2.4 x 0.6 inches (114 x 61 x 16 mm) -- roughly the size of a 4G iPod -- making it easy to stash in a pocket or purse. Within that sleek package are four radios -- GSM, WiFi, GPS, and Bluetooth -- plus two digital cameras. An auto-focus 2-megapixel camera at the rear is used for taking photos and recording video, while a front-mounted VGA camera supports video phone calls.
Other hardware details have not yet been revealed. However, several of E-ten's recent PDA/phones have featured a 400 MHz processor (the
X500, introduced last fall, is based on a Samsung SC3 2442), 64MB SDRAM, 128MB flash, and a micro SD card slot for storage expansion.
Another key bragging point of the X800 is its use of
Windows Mobile 6, which Microsoft unveiled last month at the 3GSM mobile technology conference in Barcelona. Among the benefits of this new software platform are the Windows Live for Windows Mobile suite, which provides utilities that simplify web search, email, instant messaging, and blogging. Additionally, the latest Mobile Office suite, also included, offers enhanced viewing and editing of documents, spreadsheets, and presentations.
E-ten expects to begin shipping the X800 in the second quarter of 2007. Pricing was not disclosed.
