Ampro Computers says it has "re-introduced" its line of small form-factor, x86 bench-top and wall-mount PCs based on its EPIC single-board computers (SBCs) and PC/104 expansion modules. Versions of the product will be available in Q2 with a choice of Windows XP, XP Embedded, or CE.

Ampro markets ReadySystems as complete bench-top and wall-mount PCs. The systems include one of the company's three ReadyBox enclosures, along with one of its three Epic form-factor SBCs. Processor options range from Intel's 400 MHz Celeron to a 1.4GHz Pentium M.

ReadySystems support up to 1GB of DRAM, and come with a 40GB hard drive preinstalled with the desired operating system.

        Ampro offers three ReadySystem models:
        • ReadySystem 1U -- this lowest profile version of the system packages an EPIC form-factor SBC in an 8 x 7 x 1.75 inch (203 x 180 x 44mm) enclosure. Optional rack-mount ears allow installation in standard computer racks, the company says.

        • ReadySystem 2U -- the medium profile system measures 7 x 6 x 3.5 inches (180 x 152 x 88mm), and is also available with rack-mount ears. In addition to an Epic form-factor SBC, the 2U model includes expansion slots for up to two PC/104, PC/104-Plus, or PCI-104 expansion cards. It also includes "convenient customizable I/O panels," Ampro says.

        • ReadySystem ATX -- this version of the system includes an integrated ATX power supply. It measures 11 x 7 x 4.5 inches (280 x 180 x 115mm). Like the 2U model, it is based on an Epic SBC, with support for up to two PC/104 expansion modules.
CEO Joanne Mumola Williams stated, "ReadySystem products provide a complete, flexible, yet inexpensive solution."

        Availability

Versions of the ReadySystems are immediately available with a Linux 2.6 kernel-based OS, and in Q2 with Windows XP, Windows XP Embedded, and Windows CE 5.0. Pricing was not specified.
