Motion Computing has unveiled a tablet PC about the size of a paperback book. The LS800 runs Windows XP Tablet PC Edition 2005, and is small enough to fit in a lab coat pocket or attach to a tool belt, according to the company.

Motion says the LS800 is about half the size of most slate tablet PCs. The unit weighs 2.2 lbs, is less than one inch thick, and sports an 8.4 inch SVGA display with a 120 degree viewing angle. It runs a 1.20GHz Ultra Low Voltage 753 Pentium M processor with 256 MB of RAM.

Motion's optional View Anywhere display enhances indoor and outdoor viewing, the company says. The proprietary technology offers a 10:1 reduction in unwanted reflectance and glare, 15 percent improvement in "light pass-through" efficiency and 225 percent increase in sunlight contrast ratio over the standard display.

The LS800 includes a built-in fingerprint reader and an embedded Trusted Platform Module (TPM) for hardware-protected encryption, and digital certificate storage for authentication and secure e-mail applications. As an additional security precaution, the device's wireless communication ports -- WiFi, Bluetooth and IrDA -- can be disabled at the BIOS level, according to the company.

Motion lists the following key features and specifications for the LS800:
