Quebec-based Clearview Technology has announced new details of a $600 Windows CE 5.0-based device it's positioning as "the world's smallest and lightest portable PC." The 5.7 x 3.4 x 1.1 inch Infinity miPC includes a separate, folding Bluetooth keyboard, and boasts "unprecedented" battery life, Clearview claims.

The miPC -- whose separate, Bluetooth-connected keyboard is not pictured -- has a 4.3-inch touchscreen display with 480 x 270 pixel resolution. However, downsampling capabilities enable it to render high-definition 720p video at 30fps, and the the miPC can also capture video at 320 x 240 pixels, Clearview says.

Battery life is claimed to approach 20 hours in general use, 13 hours when listening to music, and seven hours when watching video. The miPC has a 1.8-inch, 30GB hard disk drive for mass storage.

The miPC's processor is an RMI Alchemy AU1250 clocked at 600MHz, and backed by 128MB of DDR 2 RAM and 32MB of flash. I/O includes wired and wireless Ethernet, stereo audio, USB, and output to an external monitor or TV via an included A/V cable.

Additional hardware features include a 1.3 megapixel camera with flash, optional USB dongles for FM radio and TV reception, and an optional in-car cradle with integrated GPS receiver. The GPS cradle, which includes the SiRF starIII chipset, is claimed to bring support for Tele Atlas maps of the US and Canada, 16 million points of interest (POIs), and text-to-speech.
