        Small-footprint POS workstation runs WEPOS

        RealPOS 21 is based on a 1.3 GHz Celeron M processor and features a high-brightness 15-inch LCD with resistive touchscreen according to NCR. Peripheral options include a variety of printers, bar-code scanners, customer-facing displays, payment terminals, and biometric devices.

        NCR lists the following key features and specifications for the RealPOS 21:

        • Memory -- 256 MB standard, 2 GB max
        • Display -- 15-inch XGA LCD with 6-wire resistive touchscreen, 350 NIT
        • Customer display options:
          • 2 x 20 VFD -- integrated and remote mount options
          • 12.1-inch LCD -- integrated base mount
        • Storage:
          • 40 GB hard disk
          • CompactFlash slot
          • external CD ROM driver optional
        • I/O ports:
          • 10/100 Ethernet
          • 4 USB 2.0
          • 4 RS232 supplying 5V or 12V power
          • Audio -- built-in mono speaker, stereo audio out, mic in
          • parallel port
          • PS/2 keyboard and mouse
        • Expansion -- mini-PCI slot
        • Dimensions -- 14.8 x 14.5 x 12.1 inches (377 x 368 x 306 mm)
        In addition to WEPOS, the RealPOS 21 can be supplied with Windows XP Embedded, XP Professional, or Novell Linux Point of Service (NLPOS), NCR says.

        The RealPOS 21 appears to be available now. Pricing was not disclosed.
