Garz & Fricke will launch a new family of intelligent display devices at the upcoming Embedded World 2006 show in Nuremburg. The Display-on-Module devices combine an ARM-based embedded computer, running Windows CE 5.0 and the .NET Compact Framework 2.0, along with a flat panel, according to the company.

The 5.7-inch "Ganymed" and 10.4-inch "Callisto" each incorporate a 200 MHz ARM9 processor along with 64 MB of SDRAM and 32 MB of Flash. Standard interface ports include RS232, Ethernet, USB 1.1 host, and Bluetooth. Additional expansion is accomplished via an SDIO slot.

Overall dimensions were not stated, but Garz & Fricke says the units are "hardly bigger than the display itself." Operating temperature is -30 to +60 degrees C, and input power can range between 7 and 30 VDC.

Price and availability were not disclosed.
