The Fonix Speech Group has released a new version of its speech interface software for hands-free dialing of Windows Mobile Pocket PCs and smartphones. Fonix VoiceDial 2.1 now supports audio over a Bluetooth headset, a feature that VoiceDial users have been "clamoring for," according to the company.

Fonix says VoiceDial 2.1 is available for the following Windows Mobile smartphones:
        • Audiovox SMT5600 (Cingular)
        • i-mate SP3 Smartphone
        • i-mate SP3i Smartphone
        • Qtek 8100 Smartphone
        • SDA Smartphone (T-Mobile)
        • SDA Music Smartphone (T-Mobile)
        • SPV C500 (Orange)
        • O2 Xphone II (O2)
        • O2 Xphone IIm (O2)
VoiceDial 2.1 also features a new voice command -- a user can now say, "Redial last number" to redial the last call made. According to Fonix, this version also features improved contact management. It searches large contact databases more efficiently and better manages names with special characters.

Fonix says it licenses VoiceDial to ODMs (original design manufacturers) and (OEMs) original equipment manufacturers on a per-unit royalty basis. Additionally, end users may download the software for $15.95 at Handango.
