Spb Software House has released an application that enhances the functionality of smartphones running Windows Mobile 6 Professional. Spb Phone Suite is said to add features not available from Windows Mobile, such as profiles, call filtering, and missed call notifications.

Profiles allow a mobile device to be configured for different usage scenarios and automatically switch among the profiles as circumstances require, according to the company. The device may switch profiles, for example, when the headset is plugged in, when the device is connected to a car kit, or when the user is in a meeting previously marked in the calendar as "busy."

Additional features of Phone Suite, according to Spb, include:
        • Audible notification for missed calls or unread SMS messages
        • Reject a call with a predefined SMS message
        • Call filtering based on "black" and "white" lists; blacklisted callers are automatically rejected
Spb suggests that Windows Mobile 6 Professional "is still not a perfect platform for phone devices," given its lack of "such cornerstone phone features."

Spb Phone Suite is currently available in English, German, French, Italian, Russian, Traditional Chinese, Czech, Polish, Dutch, Japanese, and Thai languages. It is compatible with Windows Mobile 5.0 for Pocket PC Phone Edition and Windows Mobile 6 Professional devices. A 15-day trial download is available here. The purchase price is around $20.
