Handsmart has released a new version of its tool for creating standalone Macromedia flash movies for display on Windows Mobile Pocket PCs. FlashPack is claimed to be the first tool to bring mobile content creation to flash artists, multimedia designers, and game developers.

FlashPack converts Flash .swf movies into "projector" files, which are Pocket PC .exe files. The resulting projector can be executed directly on a Pocket PC with no installation procedure other than copying the file. The projector can even include Macromedia flash drivers if they aren't already installed on the device, according to Handsmart.

Handsmart lists the following new features in FlashPack version 2.0SE:
        • Can include multiple files in a single projector, not limited by file type
        • Can include optional Flash driver installer, in cases where drivers are not found on the device
        • Supports Windows Mobile 2003 SE full screen portrait and landscape modes
        • Full shell command support for executing external applications and customization
        • Custom HTML code insertion
        • Show/Hide SIP (soft keyboard) and Bar

"The idea behind the development of FlashPack was to present a new business potential for flash content designers and game developers by allowing them to sell their work packed as a final product to the Windows Mobile [user] community." said Handsmart founder Shai Wininger.

Registered versions of FlashPack are available for Windows Pocket PC 2002 and Windows Mobile 2003 for around $90 each or $160 for both. Handsmart says users of previous versions can upgrade for $60. A demo version that limits published Flash material to the date it was created is available for download here.
