LocationFree appears to be similar in concept to applications from
Sling Media and
Softel vdm that stream video from a set-top box or a PC, over a home network or the Internet, to mobile devices.
Sony sells a combination
1.2-inch SVGA monitor and networked base station that serves as a LocationFree multimedia transmitter. Sony also offers a version of the LocationFree Player client software that
runs on PCs.

In the future, we intend to develop all kinds of products that will allow users to enjoy a LocationFree lifestyle with all information-based home electronics, including mobile phones."
NetFront LocationFree Player for Pocket PC is expected to ship sometime in the second half of 2006, according to Access.
Access is well known for its
NetFront mobile web browser, which it supplies to numerous mobile phone makers.
