Spb Software House announced "kiosk" software that turns Pocket PCs into single-purpose devices. Spb Kiosk 2.0 "locks" the PDA in a specific mode, limiting its use to a predefined purpose, the company said. The device still functions with full Pocket PC capabilities when in the administrator mode.

The software is offered in three versions:
        • Spb Kiosk Explorer -- locks the device into Pocket Internet Explorer for access to Web-based applications

        • Spb Kiosk Terminal -- locks the device into the Terminal Services client, for access server-based applications over a wireless data network

        • Spb Kiosk Engine -- allows developers to specify custom applications that are available on the device

Spb Kiosk is sold on a site-license basis without royalties, the company said. Additionally, a trial version of the software is available for downoad, here.
