Few details are available about the device, other than that it reportedly leverages Qualcomm's gpsOne technology. Coincidentally, Intrinsyc last year
appointed a seven-year Qualcomm veteran, Souheil Gallouzi, to lead its Soleus development efforts.
Additionally, Intrinsyc says the unidentified OEM previously used its stack in a GPS-enabled handset and in an earlier PND.

Like Windows Mobile,
Soleus runs on top of Windows CE. It is available for both 5.0 and 6.0 CE versions, and is claimed to be "pre-certified" on specific hardware. It comprises an application stack and user interface, along with a suite of development tools, and has been touted as a "turnkey" development platform.
Since Soleus was first announced in 2006, Intrinsync has been able to name a variety of licensees, including
Cellon International,
Ginwave Technologies,
Quanta, and
Wistron. Most recently, the company said Soleus would be bundled with a new application processor from
Samsung.
In addition, Micro-Star International has announced the Soleus-based
MSI 5608 smartphone. This device offers EDGE/HSDPA WAN capabilities as well as WiFi WLAN functionality, and is scheduled for shipment in the second quarter.
