Among the features of the 761 is support for
assisted global positioning (A-GPS), whereby the mobile phone network supports the device's GPS function. According to Intermec, normal GPS can be problematic for handheld devices due to low signal levels inside a building, or to a very long "time to first fix" (TTFF). A-GPS uses the mobile phone network to assist the mobile device's GPS receiver to overcome the problems associated with TTFF and low signal levels.
The model 761 boasts a 3.8-inch transflective color LCD screen; CompactFlash and SD card expansion; USB, serial, and Ethernet interfaces; and offers three wireless communication options -- Wi-Fi (802.11b), Bluetooth, and GPRS or CDMA/1xRTT radios.
