Sprint announced that it has certified two Windows Mobile based rugged handheld computers from Symbol Technologies for use on the enhanced Sprint Nationwide PCS Network. The Symbol MC9000-K and MC9000-S are said to be the first Sprint-certified rugged devices to offer both voice and data services.

According to Symbol, the MC9000-S and MC9000-K are designed to help enterprises "seamlessly capture, move and manage information at the point of decision to power mission-critical enterprise mobility applications and improve asset utilization in the transportation, route accounting/direct store delivery, field service and field sales-market segments." The devices are powered by Windows Mobile 2003 Phone Edition and boast seamless Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and CDMA wireless networking for advanced mobile applications.
