Almost exactly a year ago, Stealth introduced the LPC-100, which kicked off the company's "ultra-small" range and -- at 6.1 x 4.0 x 1.45 inches -- was claimed to be its smallest ever. The device was said to accept dual-core processors including Intel's 1.9GHz Celeron T3100, 2.26GHz Core 2 Duo P8400, or 2.53GHz Core 2 Duo T9400.

With its new LPC-125LPM, Stealth has employed the same size case as it did with the LPC-100, but turns to the Atom D525 (dual-core, 1.8GHz) and ICH-8M I/O controller. This presumably results in a slight loss in computing performance, but the company says power consumption has been cut in half (to 15 Watts), and operating range is much wider (14 to 140 deg. F).
Wide operating range derives in part from the fact that the LPC-125LPM comes with a 55GB SSD as its standard fixed storage medium. There's room for a 2.5-inch hard disk drive instead, but this will increase the need for cooling, Stealth warns.
The LPC-125LPM accepts up to 4GB of DDR3 memory via two SODIMM slots, according to Stealth. The device also has an internal Mini PCI expansion slot, for wireless networking, plus an externally accessible ExpressCard/34 slot, the company adds.

On the LPC-125LPM's front panel (above left), there are two USB 2.0 ports, two RS-232 ports, a microphone input, and a headphone jack. The rear panel (above right) brings another USB 2.0 port, a gigabit Ethernet port, a VGA output, two PS/2 ports, and a four-pin power input.
Speaking of the latter, the LPC-125LPM is said to operate on inputs from 10 to 26VDC, while vehicle use is smoothed by programmable startup and shutdown delays. An optional AC adapter has a consumption of 20 Watts, says Stealth.
Specifications listed for the LPC-125LPM by Stealth include:
According to Stealth, the LPC-125LPM is compatible with Windows 7, Windows XP, Linux, and QNX, among other operating systems. The device is available now for prices starting at $895.
