MobileDataforce has announced an update to its suite of software that provides database integration, multiple report formats, and two-way data synchronization for handheld computers. The Intercue Mobility Suite version 4.5 offers an XML development environment for creating, publishing, and integrating XML-based forms for data collection on several major mobile device platforms including Windows CE, Pocket...

        PC, and Tablet PC.

"Version 4.5 supports full integration with MS-Excel, MS-Access, MS-SQL Server, and Oracle or any other ODBC data source," the company says.

MobileDataforce says the Suite consists of three interconnected components:
        • Intercue Designer -- Enables users to build a wide range of electronic forms and applications using structured XML document outlines which can then be deployed to mobile devices for data collection. A simple, programming free design environment facilitates rapid application development. The resulting applications can be deployed to different mobile platforms without modifications.

        • Intercue Desktop -- Provides desktop management and publishing for electronic forms, applications, and data for the Intercue platform. Allows users to easily transfer documents and results between their workstation PC and mobile device using the device's synchronization software.

        • Intercue Presenter -- This is the part that runs on the mobile device to facilitate data collection using the forms and applications created by the Designer.
Additional features included in version 4.5 are: two-way data transfers of forms and form data, plus the ability to view and edit stylesheets in an XML editor. The company says this enables users to create custom reports using XSLT to generate invoices, orders, or any other kind of reports using the XML form data collected on handheld computers.
