The GPRS/EDGE-enabled T-Mobile MDA features a QWERTY keyboard that slides out from the side, and it supports both WiFi and Bluetooth wireless, according to the company.
(Click here for larger image)Oddly, T-Mobile appears to be recycling the term "MDA." The
original MDA was released in 2002, running Pocket PC 2002 Phone Edition on HTC's "Wallaby" reference platform. It was followed by the
MDA III in 2004 and the
MDA IV last year.
In addition to built-in Bluetooth and WiFi, T-Mobile says the MDA supports both EDGE and GPRS networks. Basic specs for the HTC Wizard include:
- Processor -- 200 MHz TI OMAP 850
- Memory -- 64 MB SDRAM, 128 MB Flash
- Display:
- 2.8-inch 240 x 320 TFT LCD with LED backlight
- Portrait or landscape mode
- 65K Color
- Touch Screen
- Expansion -- mini SD slot
- Camera:
- 1.3 megapixel CMOS imager
- built-in flash
- digital zoom
- camcorder
- Audio -- built-in speaker and microphone
The MDA made its public debut at the 2006 Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah, where a "select group" of film makers was able to show their movie trailers directly from the MDA, T-Mobile said.
The device is scheduled for release in North America on Feb. 21. A "pre-registration" signup is available
