        Tablet format "network appliance" supports Windows Embedded

        DT Research is shipping a rugged, slate-style tablet with an 8.4-inch touchscreen display. The network-ready WebDT 366 "information appliance" is based on a choice of AMD Geode processors, runs either Windows CE or Windows XP Embedded and a thin client software stack, and targets applications in education, healthcare, manufacturing, and...


        hospitality, according to the company.

        The device sports an 8.4-inch SVGA touchscreen, and can be configured with up to a gigabyte of internal flash memory. Built-in I/O is limited to USB and audio, as the slender (0.8 inch thick) device relies on CompactFlash and PC Card slots for adding wired/wireless networking and other peripheral interface capabilities.
