Devon IT is shipping a thin client with legacy parallel and serial ports, targeting the retail and financial industries. Built around Windows Embedded Standard (WES) and a 1GHz Via C7 Eden, the TC4 supports RDP, ICA, plus virtual desktop environments from Citrix, VMware, and RedHat.

The TC4 is billed as a desktop replacement for customers, typically in retail or financial markets, who require legacy ports, says Devon IT. Specific targeted applications are said to include point-of-sale environments and bank branches.

Equipped with a 1GHz Via C7 Eden, the TC4 also deploys the Via CN700 chipset, and is supplied with 512MB DDR2 RAM. Local storage for the WES operating system is provided via a 1GB DOM (disk on module). A wide variety of clients is supported, from Leostream to VMware (see list below).

Expansion capabilities on the TC4 include both PCMCIA and PCI slots, as well as four USB ports. Other I/O includes an Ethernet port, a parallel port, both VGA and DVI outputs, and dual serial and PS/2 ports.
