Devon says the device is built on the same platform as its 6010 series of Linux-based thin clients, shown below. The decision to offer a Windows XP Embedded version was primarily customer-driven. "Some of our enterprise customers have a strong commitment to the Windows platform and want to preserve that across all of their devices," said VP of marketing Paul Mancini. "We did not have to make any modifications to the hardware we use for our Linux terminals in order to install Windows XPe," he added.

According to Devon, the NTA 8010C is available for immediate shipment with a list price of $399.
