        Thin client ups performance, runs Windows XP Embedded

        Computer Lab International (CLI) has upgraded the performance of its Windows XP Embedded based thin client series. The MT3500x has the same form-factor as the MT1500x, but substitutes an AMD

        The MT3500x series is available in three versions:
        • MT3500x -- basic configuration
        • MT3550x -- adds an internal smart card reader
        • MT3560x -- adds 802.11b WiFi

        MT3500x rear panel connections

        CLI lists the following hardware specifications common to all three models:
        • Processor -- AMD Geode LX 800
        • Memory:
          • RAM -- 256MB minimum, expandable to 512MB
          • Flash -- 256MB minimum, expandable to 1GB
        • Display:
          • Resolution up to 1600x1200
          • Up to 24-bit (16M) colors
          • Up to 85 Hz flicker free refresh rate
        • Audio -- Full 16 bit stereo FM synthesis, stereo line-out, 8-bit mini microphone line-in
        • I/O Ports:
          • 10/100 autosensing BaseT Ethernet, RJ-45 connector, Wake-On-LAN
          • 4 Type A USB 2.0 (three on MT3550 and 3560)
          • 2 serial DB-9 RS-232C up to 115.2K baud
          • PS/2 keyboard and mouse
          • Parallel DB-25 Centronics
        • Dimensions -- 5.4 x 7.8 x 2.0 inches (137 x 198 x 51 mm)
        • Weight -- 1.4 lb
        According to CLI, all models include Microsoft RDP and Citrix ICA protocols, to access Windows applications, as well as multiple terminal emulations to access mainframe, midrange, Unix, and other "legacy" applications. Also included are Internet Explorer for Web-based applications, and Windows Media Player for multimedia purposes. Additionally, all models come bundled with the company's SNMP Administrator Software.

        Availability

        All models are available for immediate shipment, with prices starting at $545, according to the company. Standard configurations of the MT3500 series include a keyboard, mouse, and three-year warranty. Monitor, keyboard, and warranty upgrade options are also available.
