According to Fujitsu Siemens, thin clients offer an attractive total cost of ownership due to their tiny size, modest electricity requirements, easy centralized administration, and high availability features. Research firm IDC has predicted that thin client sales will experience a 22.8 percent compound annual growth rate through 2007.
"These days, companies base their choice of workstations on availability, security, ergonomics, and overall costs. Technical considerations such as clock rate and memory expansion have become less important," said a company spokesman.
Fujitsu Siemens says the new Futro S series is now available from "specialist dealers." Prices in Germany start at 499 (Euros).
