(Click here for a larger view of Samsung's 460UTn, in a stack of four with optional stands)Samsung's 460UTn is an apparent successor to the company's
460UXn, which was released last year with a 46 display and a built-in Windows XP computer. The new device offers the same 46-inch display size, with a cited resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels, but now has a bezel that has slimmed down to just 2.3mm at its right and bottom sides, and 4.3mm at left and top, according to the company.

(Click to enlarge)Samsung says that the slim bezel allows for creating video walls that are almost continuous, as simulated above, with black bands between the live video areas that are just 7.3m wide. The 460UTn features an "exclusive patented interlocking display solution" that lets system integrators build and align video walls easily, the company adds.
According to Samsung, the 460UTn has a 3000:1 contrast ratio, a 700-nit brightness rating, and a sensor that automatically adjusts its brightness in accord with ambient light. Capable of being driven by external devices, the 460UTn can accept signals from a PC via its VGA, DVI, and BNC connectors, and from TV equipment via its composite, S-Video, component, and HDMI interfaces, the company says.
In addition, the 460UTn can play back presentations, stream video, and connect to a LAN or a WAN without the aid of any external device, thanks to an onboard computer that runs Windows XP Embedded. Samsung hasn't released any technological information on this aspect of the 460UTn, but we suspect that, like last year's 460UXn, the display uses AMD's dual-core, 1.8GHz Athlon64 X2 3400+ CPU,
RS690T northbridge, and SB600 southbridge. If it's the same as the 460UXn, the display has accelerated 2D/3D graphics via an integrated graphics processor, 512MB of DDR2 DRAM standard, 4GB of flash memory, and a gigabit Ethernet interface.
